Presiding judge O-Gon Kwon has ordered the Hague prosecutors and Karadzic defence to submit their final brief until the end of August this year, and the presentation of closing statements will begin on September 29th.

Judge Kwon ordered the prosecution and defence to state how much time they would each require to present their closing arguments by the end of this month.

In February, Karadzic asked for a year to prepare his closing arguments, while the prosecutors wanted seven months.

The former Bosnian Serb political leader is on trial for genocide in Srebrenica and seven other municipalities, persecution of nonSerb population, terrorizing Sarajevo residents and taking UN peacekeepers hostage.

His trial started in 2009.
